Nuku’alofa, Tonga – The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources wrapped up the Toe Talatalanoa Australia program in Brisbane from December 19th to 22nd, 2023. The program featured television and radio sessions, two engaging Talatalanoa discussions, and scheduled appointments at various venues.
Event Highlights:TV and Radio Programme: On December 20th, 2023, the Honourable Minister and key officials from MLNR participated in a live television and radio program at Pasifika TV & Radio in Brisbane. The program covered crucial matters including the purpose of the visit, the connection between the freedom of all Tongans, the Constitution, Land Act, and land ownership. Additionally, it highlighted the rights of Tongan women in Australia to own land in Tonga, citizenship and dual citizenship, and proposed plans to address land matters for Tongans in Australia.
Talatalanoa Sessions:Talatalanoa discussions on December 20th and 21st raised several significant issues:
Appointments: The Honorable Minister's appointments in Brisbane highlighted concerns, including delays in processing applications without feedback and submissions needing attention at the main office.
